Campanie sterilizare Manastireni

Although we could let the photos speak for themselves and it would be enough, we can tell you that in the 3 days of the campaign in Mănăstireni, 127 animals were sterilised.

How was this possible?

Thanks to the efforts of dozens of volunteers, many of them strangers to one another, who worked flawlessly, like a long-standing, well-trained team, for at least 12 hours every day. And that is because a common goal brought them together.

Thanks to the skill of the medical team made up of doctor Andra Fecioru and doctor Suteu Ioan Razvan and their assistants, who operated in the premises of the Mănăstireni veterinary district office. The pace of work called for coffee straight from an IV drip and a professional masseur. While the rest of the team could still catch a moment to sit down, the doctors had no such luxury, standing, focused and bent over the operating field from dawn to dusk and a little longer by the light of a headlamp. And that is because a common goal brought them to our side.

Thanks to the openness of the mayor, Mr Ioan Condor, who gave normality a chance when it comes to the humane and efficient management of the animals in the commune. From our first discussions we hoped he would become an example of good practice for his colleagues and neighbouring administrations. Now we know he has! Because in the streets of Mănăstireni and the neighbouring villages people are already talking about the wonders we managed to achieve in one weekend. Imagine what could be achieved with continuity and medium- and long-term material support from the authorities for projects like this. And all for a goal that should be shared by all of us: respect for everything around us that is, one way or another, in our care.

Our partners stood by us too, but above all our old friends from ACT4PETS-Transport with their van ready to transport as many animals as possible. Because they know best how many animals that Romania doesn’t want and (pretends) not to see are still being born. And since we mentioned the country (not just one village, not just one citizen) and the still undignified way it treats its animals – take a look here; it is being tried for every dog in this country: Respect for animals

We are happy to share actions like these with you, but we would be even happier if they were no longer necessary. If every person sterilised and microchipped the animals in their own yard and then convinced one more neighbour to do the same. If everyone cared, not just one category of people. Will we get there? We are certainly doing everything we can to make it a YES! And we thank everyone who supports us in one way or another.

And that is because we share a common goal.
