We never forget our mission, wherever it takes us. Most of the time it takes us where things are hard and where nobody even tries until we do. It takes us up the hills, it takes us out at night, it brings us — we don’t always know when or how.

We recently returned to Călățele with a campaign dedicated to the dogs of the Roma community. How was it? Noisy, colourful, intense and, above all, necessary. We managed to sterilise 70 animals. Did we leave others behind, unseen, uncaught, not grown up enough? Absolutely! Have there been times when we reported hundreds of sterilisations in one campaign? There have, but these 70 were gathered exclusively through field work: from finding them, to convincing the owner, to catching the dog and playing with the children who were all too eager to be part of the action.

Our partners, besides the children who knew every dog’s name, were the volunteers who didn’t step back from anything — and in a campaign, “anything” can sometimes be something never seen before.

The veterinarians Andra Fecioru and Suteu Ioan Razvan, there and ready for anything; and in a campaign, “anything” can sometimes be exactly what you wouldn’t want to happen, supported by the many hands of their assistants Tomi and Bianca. Everything took place in good conditions, such as we have never seen in the field, at the Todea Vet veterinary clinic in Mărgău, and for their openness and support we want to thank doctors Todea and Rus.

ACT4PETS-Transport stood by us once again, and thanks to them we were able to transport several dogs at once, in optimal conditions.

We would have liked to thank the local authorities this time as well, but it was not to be; we still believe in the motto of this project: “Education through action”; and if the children in the communities we visited managed to understand what is right and responsible when it comes to animals, we see no reason why the adults elected to decide for them shouldn’t do the same.

Stay responsible and stand by the causes you believe in!
